Tacloban City (21 March) --- Operatives from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested a man in posession of illegal firearms in Tabango, Leyte last Friday.

The suspect, Leon Moncada, was found keeping different kinds of guns, all without permits, inside his home. Authorities recovered a caliber .45 with silencer, a revolver, an unserviceable hand gun, hand grenade, sniper scope, 2 gun magazines, a cleaning kit, 2 holsters, and different weapon ammunitions.

SPO2 Vicentico Yamon Jr., of the CIDG said they are still investigating whether the suspect is involved in a syndicate.

"We are still continuing our investigation on the suspect, whether he is involved in a group, or a gun for hire or whatever, we have to confirm why he has this kind of ammunitions," he said.
Moncada was later put under CIDG custody. Authorities said Moncada is facing charges of illegal possession of firearms and illegal possession of explosives filed before the Palompon Municipal Trial Court.
