Maasin
City (21 March) --- Almost a
hundred people in the municipality of
St. Bernard, Southern Leyte from different
walks of life will find employment as
soon as their livelihood projects will
be implemented in full swing anytime this
month following the assistance released
from the Department of Labor and Employment
(DOLE) early this month.
Local fisher folks, young
people and motorcycle drivers will soon
find their hands full with the financial
assistance thru the Livelihood Formation
Assistance program (LPAP), according to
Mario Tictic, Senior Labor Employment
Officer of Southern Leyte DOLE here.
During the People's Government
Mobile Action (PGMA) Serbisyo Muna caravan
held in Maasin City last week, the DOLE
Provincial Office awarded to Himbangan
Farmers Association based in Brgy. Himbangan,
St. Bernard, a livelihood financial assistance
in the amount of P166,082.00 for the prawn
culture project through the representation
of Municipal Mayor Rico Rentuza.
Under the same program,
the department also released in the amount
of P94,690 LPAP funds for the t-shirt
printing project with St. Bernard Youth
Group. The youth group which comprises
20 young people proposed for the t-shirt
printing entreprenuerial activity as an
income generating project.
While, another livelihood
assistance were given to the St. Bernard
Motor Operators Drivers Association in
the amount of P200,000.00 for the establishment
of Motorcycle Spare Parts Trading project
to be undertaken by 50 tricycle, pedicab
and motorcycle drivers. (PIA Southern
