City (16 March) -- A total of
5,104 people availed of the medical and
dental services conducted on March 12-14,
2009 in Southern Leyte by the PGMA (Philippine
Government Mobile Action) Serbisyo Muna.

and former Leyte Governor and Congresswoman
Remedios L. Petilla said these activities
were part of President Gloria Macapagal
Arroyo's serious effort to provide basic
services to every Filipino.
PAGCOR Vice President
Remedios L. Petilla informed through her
Sunday radio program that the PGMA Serbisyo
Muna medical and dental mission was able
to serve a total of 1,840 people at St.
Bernard on March 12. Of the total number
of people served, about 1,400 were given
medical attention while 400 availed of
dental services.
On March 13, the PGMA
Medical and Dental Mission served about
2,068 people of Sogod, Hon. Petilla said.
A total of 1,827 availed of medical services
while the remaining 241 availed of dental
services.
On March 14, a PGMA Serbisyo
Muna Caravan was conducted at the City
of Maasin. This included not only medical
and dental mission but also other services
from the member government agencies in
the Region.
Vice President Petilla
said that March 14 was a rainy day in
Maasin but still 1,176 people were served;
980 were given medical services while
the remaining 196 availed of dental services.
The activity is part of
President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's directive
to PAGCOR and the other government agencies
involved in the PGMA to visit the 10 poorest
provinces and other needy provinces and
bring the government directly to the people,
Madam Petilla said.
Hon. Petilla thanked the
local government officials in St. Bernard,
Sogod and Maasin City, Governor Damian
Mercado and the government agencies which
came to Maasin to provide services to
the people of Southern Leyte.
Hon. Petilla also thanked
the PAGCOR staff and volunteers who went
to Southern Leyte for the three day activities.
PGMA Serbisyo Muna will
visit the province of Northern Samar to
serve the people on March 17-19, Hon.
