Borongan City (16 March) -- The rehabilitation of Taft-Arteche road section, by Tacloban RAS construction, the concreting of Guiuan airport by WILPER Construction and the concreting of Laoang-Lapinig-Arteche road section by RT Morabe of Tanauan Leyte may soon provide short-term employment for skilled laborers.

Engineer Olga Amboy of the District Office in an interview said that the employment project is in line with the Economic Resiliency Plan to cushion the impact of the global financial crisis particularly the displaced workers from abroad.

Further, Amboy said that the program aims to provide fiscal stimulus to spur economic growth in the locality and to reduce percentage of unemployment in the country.

She said that a Jobs Fair was launched in February still to assist the contractors in looking for the best men they will take in for the jobs.

As of last week, about 105 job applications have already been accepted.

It was learned that the following jobs will be opened until June: project engineers, material engineers, construction foremen, heavy and light equipment operators, steelmen, carpenters and painters. (PIA-Eastern Samar)
