Tacloban
City (March 3) -- The Regional
Development Council for Eastern Visayas
is set to search for the Best RDC Website,
a contest for all the RDC 8 members, both
government agencies and private sector
representatives with websites.
This was learned during
the recent RDC Meeting held at the NEDA
Regional Office 8, Government Center,
Palo, Leyte.
The Search for the Best
RDC Website is aimed at sustaining the
gains of the RDC's EV Online Project which
started in 2007, the most important of
which is the sharing of information about
the Region in the world-wide web.
Another objective of the
Search is to upgrade the status of the
websites to world class quality and to
encourage the RDC members to aim for the
best in their websites.
NEDA Director Buenaventura
Go-soco Jr., RDC 8 Vice Chair, informed
that with the implementation of the EV
Online Project in 2007, 38 RDC members'
websites were developed and 46 websites
are now being hosted by EVISNet.
Although the websites
were developed by a single web designer,
the idea and concept of the website design
came from the suggestion of the RDC/SecCom
members. Although EV Online made suggestions
on what data to put in their respective
websites, several agencies provided data
which were not included in the list.
The best websites will
conform with the criteria for world class
quality websites, Director Go-soco informed.
The Best RDC Website shall be given to
the RDC/SecCom member's website that will
get the highest point from a given set
of criteria. The set of criteria will
be similar to the quality criteria for
website excellence.
The awardees shall receive
a plaque containing the citation and signature
of the RDC Chair. The expenses for the
cash award and plaque shall be sourced
from RDC funds.
The Committee on Selection
or Awards is composed of 5 members initially.
This will include a representative of
RITECC; NCC representative; DOST; Private
Sector and State Universities and Colleges.
The members shall select from among themselves
the Chair of the committee. (PIA 8)
